Only Choirs Aloud
Saturday 4th July, 7pm, St. Alban's Church
Following the recent success of a similar program on the BBC, Westbury Park Festival present Only Choirs Aloud, a competition between local amateur choirs. Westbury Park is full of talent, and for this evening we wanted to showcase the singing talents available, and we will be doing so in St Alban's Church, recently featured on Songs of Praise, and whose accoustics make is a wonderful venue.
Re-revised timetable (3 July)
- Start time: 7.15 for 7.30.
- Our hosts, Emma Langley (Ecumenical Minister of the Church in Westbury Park) and Greg Bath (from Westbury Park School), will start of proceedings.
- 7.30 : Host choirs. This part of the night is not competitive.

~8.15 : Interval.
Drinks will be available in the church hall.
- 8.45 : End of interval.
- Westbury Park Community Choir
- Generation Gospel Community Choir *
- Redland Green Community Chorus
- Each choir will sing two songs. After each senior choir's performance, the judges will comment on the performance - emphasis will be very much on enthusiasm, fun and community spirit (in line with the whole festival!). The judges will finally announce a winner.

Entrance
Tickets will need to be bought in advance from the standard outlets. They cost £4 for adults, £2 for children, and £10 for a family ticket.
Judges
Four generous experts have volunteered to judge the competition:
- David Bedford, composer, arranger and MD of school choirs.
- Simon Goodman, one time musical director of Bristol Cabot Choir and organist.
- Alison Neubert, recently retired teacher from Westbury Park School, member of City of Bristol Choir.
- Sam Adams Nye, chorister of the year in 2005 and member of the band Angelis.

Update 30 May: Alan Rees, headmaster of Westbury Park School is unable to compere the show so has been replaced by his colleague Greg Bath.
